Individual Mental Health Therapy is the ultimate act of self-discovery

Individual mental health therapy typically entails weekly, one-hour sessions with a licensed mental health therapist. As the client, you guide the direction of the session based on your individual needs. Often, individuals seek therapy to work through life transitions, relationship issues, or ongoing mental health concerns.

Our Therapists at Eden Therapy Center use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) during individual mental health therapy sessions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a collaborative effort between you and the therapist. CBT believes that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors.  At Eden Therapy Center, we seek to learn what you want in life – your goals. Then we help you achieve those goals.

Our therapist’s role is to listen, to help identify what is blocking you from your goal, to teach and to encourage. Your role is to co-create the life that you seek.  You can change the way you think, which changes the way you feel and act, regardless if the situation changes. Change your thinking and you can change your life.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Acceptance and Dialectics. “Dialectic” means weighing and integrating contradictory facts or ideas with a view to resolving apparent contradictions. DBT’s main goal is to teach skills to cope with stress, to regulate emotions, to improve relationships with others and to create a life filled with the essence that you value.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an approach to developing control and wisdom in our lives using our inner capacities for attention, awareness, and insight. Research supports the efficacy of mindfulness practices in changing behaviors that contribute to the experience of stress, and in modifying the neural structures that support those behavioral changes.

MBSR uses meditation practices to examine the connections between thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Within these connections we find a space that offers us the opportunity to choose a response to stress rather than be carried away in reactionary behaviors as we have the past. Using the mind, we effectively change the connections in the brain that naturally lead to changes in the mind.
