Alene Chelman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Dakota and completed graduate work in Marital and Family Therapy at North Dakota State University, before earning her Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota. With over 30 years of experience, Alene is comfortable supporting and guiding you through whatever may be holding you back—with success defined by you. Therapy is about building trust and connection within a safe environment to facilitate a new way of being. I’d be honored to help you start your journey toward courage, compassion, and contentment.
I have experience working with children, teens, and families in a variety of settings, including outpatient therapy, school and home-based therapy, and adolescent residential treatment. I developed supports for families formed through adoption, which gave me the unforgettable opportunity to visit China. I also worked as a mental health professional in an early childhood autism program.
Our uniqueness brings hope. My approach to therapy combines an understanding of how our brains try to protect us, how our internal parts strive to help us, and the belief that we can heal and become more Self-led. As a therapist, I love to see people gain awareness and confidence.
Away from the office, you’ll find me outside, on or by the water, with my husband and adult children. I cherish each day with my two geriatric dogs, who enjoy being by my side as I wage my never-ending battle with dandelions! In the winter, outside is only as needed—that’s what windows are for!
