Hi, I’m Abbey! I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and my Bachelor’s degree in Social and Sport Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
I meet my clients where they’re at, validating their experiences while empathetically challenging them to help achieve their therapeutic goals. Rather than associating accountability with shame, I believe we can embrace the idea that we are all doing our best to navigate life and may just need some help along the way. When appropriate, I like to incorporate humor to make coping with life’s difficult challenges more bearable.
I find value in helping my clients understand the mind-body connection and use various tools that incorporate mindfulness as coping techniques. My goal is to equip clients with the tools they need to succeed, while also being a supportive presence when things don’t go as planned.
Outside of work, I love to spend time outdoors with my dog, watch and coach sports, travel, see live music, paint, and try new things. I have a deep love for lake life and all things Minnesota, which is one of the main reasons I recently moved back home from North Carolina.
