Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified

Hi, I am so glad you are here! I’m Terri Houndt-Dalberg, a Licensed Nurse Practitioner and a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). If you’re new to mental health care—welcome. Please know anything you’re feeling about being here is valid, so let’s chat about it. If you are familiar with me, I am so grateful to see you back! Let’s start (or continue) your wellness journey together.

I am a big believer that to make an impact on an individual’s mental health, we need to look at each person as a whole. This includes medical, social, spiritual, and emotional history/state. If even one of these elements of life is off balance or facing challenges, your mental health may not feel balanced. When you work with me, we don’t just focus on treating symptoms—we look deeper.

Everyone’s life and experiences are unique, just as each individual’s threshold to navigate life events is different. That is why we will work together to create a plan of care based on your authentic needs and values. We will collaborate to create a toolbox of coping skills, explore (or embrace) interests, utilize medication when appropriate, and build holistic plans to help you navigate whatever life may bring. You are not alone in this journey. My goal is to help you identify where you need balance and assist you in discovering what that looks like for you, in a very individualized way. I tend to use humor, art, interactive activities, and realism in my approach to care.

As a medication provider, I treat from a person-first perspective. I enjoy helping individuals and their families feel empowered and educated while making their medical and mental health care decisions. I lean into a holistic approach, working with people to find balance and their desired point of wellness. What does that mean? I listen, review, and see each person as a whole—searching for the missing pieces of the puzzle. Sometimes this includes diving into lab work, sleep, hormones, social history, or behavior patterns. Your voice, your views, and your overall health are critical to your care and wellness.

When I am not present with you, you will find me with friends and family, enjoying mom life—which has earned me the nicknames “Mamaprazzi” and “Chaos Coordinator.” In my free time, I love doing arts and crafts (self-proclaimed Pinterest addict), spending time by the water, going on walks, lifting weights, and sharing good food with people I care about. To relax, I enjoy reading, practicing yoga, and binge-watching my favorite shows.

Clinical Background

I received my undergraduate degree from St. Catherine University in Minnesota and went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Psychiatric-Mental Health.

I have 19 years of nursing experience. As a registered nurse, I worked in Neonatal Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Community Health, Military/Veteran Care, Home Health, and Mental Health. In every clinical setting, it became clear to me that mental health is essential to a person’s overall health.

My special areas of clinical interest include ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, and the ways hormones and nutrition affect mental health.
