“You were given this Life because you are strong enough to live it”. When most kids are asked what they want to be when they group up, they usually rattle off the typical answers: firefighter, police officer, teacher. Not me! For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to help others and be a therapist. I brought my childhood dreams to fruition when I graduated in 2015 with a Master of Art in Marriage & Family Therapy at St. Thomas University.
My personal journey has fueled my passion to provide unconditional and authentic support for families and individuals with warmth & compassion. Since 2007 I’ve been working in the mental health field in a variety of roles which have enriched my clinical practice and further fueled my passion for helping young people navigate the challenges of childhood. These experiences include working as an Eating Disorder Technician at the Emily Program, a School-Based Therapist for Nystrom & Associates, and a Youth Counselor for Catholic Charities. I draw upon a strength based, resiliency building & collaborative style of therapy to empower families and individuals to find inner healing while providing tools to enhance their daily life functioning.
I specialize in working with children ages 6 and older and love working with individuals struggling with adolescent-related or school needs. I am particularly passionate about helping individuals and families that are navigating issues around multicultural transitions, adoption, and transracial needs especially for members of the Latinx and Somalian communities.
When I’m not working, I enjoy doing Zumba, Running, Camping, and spending time with my kids and family. Clients have described me as “easy to talk to, insightful & supportive”. Please contact me below if you have any further questions or to set up an appointment.
