Psychotherapy is the intricate healing process of restoring parts of ourselves that we are struggling with. While we humans cannot choose what happens to us or make everything “right” to us, we have the power to alter how the suffering affects us.
I am passionate about working with individuals who are struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety and stress management, trauma from the past, self-esteem issues, relationship distress, family conflicts, cultural identity, and life transitions. With my background of growing up in China and living in the U.S. for five years, my clinical knowledge and skills are developed and practiced in both countries. This experience contributed to my cultural sensitivity and helps me focus more on respect and openness to diversity.
I hold an eclectic theoretical orientation to cater to each unique individual’s needs, and I utilize a variety of interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Person-centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Art and Movement Therapy. My approach with clients always starts with building a trusting and collaborative rapport as I strongly believe that natural healing begins with a therapeutic relationship. I value my clients’ beliefs and explore their inner world as I know each one of us is a unique individual holding a unique way to interpret our life. I try my best to create a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients and I honor their vulnerability and courage. I also trust my clients and empower them to be their own experts in this healing process.
As a therapist who also finds healing from therapy, I have a deep passion to invite and walk along with people in their process of building up self-compassion and resiliency. I have since helped many others on their journeys too. You can feel better, you can set yourself free from past painful experiences, and you don’t have to do it alone.
When I’m not in session, you can find me exploring local restaurants, drawing, painting, trying to learn animal languages to get my dog and cat peacefully along with each other, and watching my favorite movies 100 times. Sometimes I stay up late to virtually celebrate traditional holidays and exciting life events with my family members and friends oversea.
I provide bilingual psychotherapy services (Mandarin/English).
